We contracted with Kraftson Construction to convert a one-car carport to a two-car garage. Involved was demolition, rough framing, and trim carpentry as well as some remedial concrete work. We also had some remedial interior trim and external siding and gutter work to complete which a previous carpentry contractor left in a state of poor quality.
I have high expectations with respect to the quality of work and as a result have encountered a lot of problems with contractors in the past. I am very happy to report that Todd and Darren consistently exceeded my expectations as to quality, and were very easy to work with, as an added bonus. We all realize that nobody likes to clean up a mess left by someone else, but Darren and Todd did an excellent job in this respect and never complained about it.

“ What we most admire most about Todd is his trustworthiness and his communication skills.
We live in a house built in 1916 and Todd re-modeled our master bath. It went from being the ugliest room in the house to one of the nicest. The renovation was a complete overhaul, taking the existing bathroom down to the studs, and redoing.
What we most admire most about Todd is his trustworthiness and his communication skills. We felt Todd was completely honest in his pricing and dealings with us. He and his co-worker, Darren, are both good natured and pleasant to be around. We have several children and felt completely comfortable with their being around our family. We also appreciated Todd's strong communication skills. He was responsive about checking in with us and we were never left wondering when he or one of the subcontractors was going to be here. We built a separate garage in the historic part of Herndon, immediately after major new zoning regulations became effective. The impact of the zoning changes were significant, yet Kraftson Construction was able to start and finish (permit to permit) a two car garage (with bathroom), a portico and extended patio, sidewalk and driveway in 7 weeks. Because of the constraints of the lot and potential impact on the neighbors, we required all of the details to be planned out in advance before construction began. We are happy to report that the project was an incredible success. The project planning was key to the successful result. Additionally, the overall quality of the work is exceptional. Mr. Kraftson had thought through the details. We highly recommend the company.

We would highly recommend Kraftson Construction for a project large or small. We used them to gut our basement and create an apartment (with a separate kitchen) for an elderly relative coming to live with us. The basement also included a theatre room, with a lot of special lighting. We also added on a large laundry/utility room to the main level of our house. Because we were working in different areas of the house, it was important to us to arrange the schedule for maximum sanity. Todd and his team are excellent problem solvers, listeners, and craftsmen. A big compliment we can give Todd is that for our final payment I dropped off a blank check, because I couldn’t remember the exact amount. He is honest and fair, and very professional to deal with. We would certainly use him again, and plan to, when we can go forward with other projects.

Todd Kraftson and his crew were absolutely delightful to work with. Their work ethic, quality and skill is more than we could have hoped for and we were more than pleased with the final result. Todd continually planned ahead, foresaw issues, and resolved them before constructing each phase. His advice to us in design changes before they became constructed issues led to our overall control of cost and the result of building it once with no requirement to ever go back and do it over. With daily meetings at 7:00AM to go over progress and resolve issues the job went smoothly from start to finish. We highly recommend Kraftson Construction as a builder of choice.
